Traumatized by Religious Abuse: Courage, Hope and Freedom for Survivors

Connie Baker

The Gifts of Imperfection
Brene’ Brown

This book is an invitation to join a wholehearted revolution. A small, quiet, grassroots movement that starts with each of us saying, 'My story matters because I matter.' Revolution might sound a little dramatic, but in this world, choosing authenticity and worthiness is an absolute act of resistance.

When Helping You is Hurting Me: Escaping the Messiah Trap
Carmen Rene Berry

“Messiahs try to be helpful wherever they go.  Wherever Messiahs can be found, you can be sure they will be busy taking care of other people.  Do you find yourself in a relationship where you do all the giving and the other person does the taking?  If so, you have fallen into the Messiah trap.  This book is your ticket out.”

The Little Book of Self Care
Mel Noakes

With encouraging reminders, inspiring thoughts, easy wins and practical advice, The Little Book of Self Care will help you identify your needs so you can relax, refuel and find calm in your hectic life. This book will tell you why mindset is key, how to nourish instead of punish yourself, how to exercise and sleep and why it is important to go slow sometimes. You live your whole life being you, so why not be your own best friend?

Leaving Church
Barbara Brown Taylor

Leaving Church is a memoir of finding, losing, and keeping—although with none of the preachiness that sometimes accompanies such narratives and with an ever-present consciousness of doubt and uncertainty. Taylor’s honesty on these points pervades the narrative and makes it one not to miss.  – Kendra Weddle. I also love this long, but insightful, review of Leaving Church.
